Florida Highway Patrol donates surplus equipment to Monticello Police Department

On the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 17, Major Jeffery Bissainthe of the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) stopped by the Monticello Police Department (MPD) to deliver some much-appreciated surplus equipment.
After recognizing a need for additional traffic enforcement equipment, MPD Captain Jack Pitts put in a request to FHP for three additional in-car traffic radar units, and thankfully, FHP was happy to provide what they had available.
“Those units will be used to help enforce the local state traffic laws, and to slow down speeders in the city limits,” explains Pitts.
“[The units] are donated, so they're at no cost to the city or Monticello taxpayer
