Governor Ron DeSantis recently signed into law a sales tax holiday for back-to-school supplies. This sales tax holiday began on July 24 and ends on Aug. 6. There will be a second sales tax holiday from Jan. 1 through Jan. 14, 2024.
The following supplies are exempt from sales tax:
• Learning aids and jigsaw puzzles selling for $30 or less.
• Most school supplies selling for $50 or less.
• Clothing, footwear and accessories selling for $100 or less.
• Computers and related accessories selling for $1,500 or less (if purchased for non-commercial and personal use.)
• Items that are not included on the sales tax holiday include:
• Any item of clothing with a sales price of $100 or more.
• Any school supply item with a sales price of $50 or more.
• Books that are not exempt.
• Computers and related accessories with a sales price of $1,500 or more.
• Computers and related accessories purchased for commercial purposes.
• Rentals of any eligible items.
• Repairs or alterations of any eligible items.
• Sales of any eligible items within a theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment, or airport.
