FMB, the premier community bank in the North Florida/South Georgia region, has announced its prestigious Employee Excellence Awards for 2018.
During the company’s Annual Awards, three employees were recognized for their dedication and contributions. The Bank awarded the F. Wilson Carraway, Sr. Award for Excellence & Community Service to Vice President and Human Resources Officer Brenda Smith. In addition, Loan Officer Sonja Brock was presented the Horizon Award, and Loan Assistant Lori Parramore was awarded the Employee of the Year Award.
FMB’s most prestigious award, The Carraway Award, was established in memory of F. Wilson Carraway, Sr.
In 1966 as Florida’s Senate President and owner of the local Coca-Cola bottling company, Carraway, Sr. purchased the bank and began FMB’s modern era of banking. The award honors an employee’s commitment to FMB, its customers and community; religious and value-building activities; and continuing education.
The 2018 Carraway Award recipient, Brenda Smith, joined the FMB family in 1983 as a teller. She received several promotions throughout her career at FMB including Assistant Branch Manager, Supervisor, Officer, and to her current position as Vice President and Human Resources Officer. Smith’s career is a direct reflection of her character – ambitious, methodical and loyal. She has been a dedicated employee to the Bank, and a friend and mentor to her colleagues through the years. Smith is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and holds the SHRM Senior Certified Professional designation. She is very active in her church and has enjoyed her role as Treasurer for several years.
The Horizon Award was presented to Sonja Brock. This award is presented to an employee who goes “Above and Beyond.” Throughout her 20-year banking career at FMB, Brock has held several positions beginning in Deposit Operations, then Loan Operations before becoming a loan assistant where she learned from her mentor and friend, Jerry Boatwright, former FMB Senior Vice President and City Executive. She was promoted to Loan Officer in 2017. Brock’s strong commitment to career and community is proven by her three-year commitment and 2018 graduation from the Florida School of Banking as well as her dedication to several local organizations including One Blood and Big Bend Hospice.
Lori Parramore was selected by her FMB colleagues as the Employee of the Year. She has held various positions during her career with FMB beginning in 2007 as a Teller, then Customer Service Representative, and today, she is the go-to Loan Assistant in Monticello. Her professionalism and confidence are attributes that stand out whether she is working with a colleague or a customer. Parramore is a great example of a team player demonstrated by her willingness to step in and help whenever or wherever the situation requires making her a strong asset to the Bank.
FMB is honored to present these prestigious awards to three very deserving individuals. They are true representatives of FMB and major contributors in the Bank’s continued success.
