Every second, an older American has a fall.
According the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 25 percent of people age 65 or older experience a fall each year, and the percentage increases with the age. Falls can lead to hip fractures, head trauma and even death. In fact, falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans. Nearly three million people 65 and older are treated in emergency rooms for fall-related injuries every year.
