Dear Tiger Fans,
The Athletic department at Jefferson County K-12 want to wish you a wonderful fall season. We also pray that all of you have come through the hurricane in the best shape possible. We are so excited to have all our staff and students back on campus and fired up about the upcoming year.
The positive changes and upward growth of Jefferson County Schools is a direct result of the experience, leadership and quality care for all students that we receive from our Superintendent Eydie Tricquet and Principal Jackie Pons on a daily basis. Jefferson County is fortunate to have these two educational leaders. As we start basically year two from the former charter school system, the improvements are very clear. The discipline and productivity of the students is a daily commitment. This is also evident with our athletic teams.
I am proud to announce that we have added two brand new teams to our school. Girls volleyball is a sport that our students are really enjoying. Our head coach Taylor Clemens and assistant coach Trey Johnson are building the foundation for future successful Tiger teams. We have also started a Middle School football program, which was one of my priorities. This program will serve as a much needed feeder system for our Varsity program. We are extremely fortunate to have our Dean and former NFL player leading the charge: Rodell Thomas. Please come out and watch these young Tigers as they develop their fundamentals.
I want to thank our local newspaper for doing such an outstanding job on our area high school football preview. Coach Footman and his staff are hard at work and molding this young Tiger squad into a highly competitive unit. I want to make a special welcome to a new assistant coach, Toney Powell, who brings several years of successful coaching over to Jefferson from the Port St. Joe’s programs. He is a great addition. We started out the season with a Big Win over Hamilton High 7-0. This game was a real confidence builder. Again, please come out and support these fine young men; nothing is more exciting to these young players than fans in the seats.
Everything is really looking up at Jefferson, and I could not be more proud than to be your Athletic Director. And I can’t finish this article without a HOW BOUT THEM NOLES !!!!!
All the very best,
Coach Pat Kennedy
