As Mayor of the great City of Monticello, I am delighted to serve in this capacity and be a blessing to the fine citizens found here in Monticello. There is no other place I would rather be than right here.
I am appealing to the community in a clarion call for collective action and engagement in improving our local neighborhood. By forming neighborhood committees and neighborhood watches, the aim is to foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among our residents.
Starting with the street one lives on is a practical approach, as it encourages individuals to take initiative in their immediate surroundings. Reporting junk vehicles, abandoned houses, and overgrown properties are crucial steps in revitalizing the community and maintaining its aesthetics and safety.
Addressing these issues can lead to various positive outcomes. Reporting junk vehicles helps maintain a clean and orderly environment while also preventing potential hazards. Identifying abandoned houses allows for necessary actions to be taken, such as renovation or repurposing, to prevent blight and enhance the overall appearance of the neighborhood. Reporting overgrown properties promotes tidiness and a sense of care for public spaces.
This appeal highlights the significance of community involvement in tackling local challenges. By encouraging residents to take an active role in improving their neighborhood, it is my hope to foster a sense of unity and shared responsibility. This approach can contribute to the restoration of pride and the overall well-being of the community as residents work together towards common goals.
Mayor Gloria A. Cox
