Funeral home proposal advances two tentative steps

The ongoing effort of a local business to get a property on South Jefferson Street rezoned and its land-use designation changed on the Future Land Use Map (FLUM) of the city’s comprehensive plan recently advanced a couple of steps, if the advancement was conditional. After much discussion on Tuesday evening, Dec. 2, the Monticello City Council voted 2-1 to grant two variances to Evelyn Hagan, who is proposing to build a funeral home at 370 S. Jefferson St.
