After countless teams coming and going through Jefferson County Somerset Schools like a revolving door, the school's weight room finally got a much-needed donation. A competitive sports program calls for many resources such as coaches, trainers, dedicated student-athletes, proper training facilities and more. Thanks to a generous donation, the Tigers can now train harder than ever before.
Somerset received a donation of over 20 workout machines and three workout benches. At first, the only equipment being used was two squat racks and two benches. There are only so many exercises that can be performed with this limited equipment. The new machines cover all aspects of personal training, hitting all the body parts, including but not limited to quads, calves, biceps, triceps, traps, deltoids, pectorals and abdominals. The newly donated machines create a whole new workout program to increase the endurance and core strength of Somerset's student-athletes.
The equipment donated was Cybex's strength training machines known as strength training equipment and free weight systems engineered to produce faster fitness results with minimal stress on joints. In a high-impact sport such as football, young players need to reduce the strain on joints but still receive the benefits of using weights to increase their strength and power.
The first to get good, full use of the new equipment will be the Somerset football program. Coach Ira Reynolds has new big plans for this upcoming season. Now having the ability to work more on isolated muscle groups and conditioning the body in different ways will help Coach Reynolds move his program in the right direction. Coach Reynolds wants to thank the donator for supplying the team with such a fantastic contribution, and God for making all this a reality.
