George Pittman Sr. named Watermelon Festival Parade grand marshal

Laura Young  ECB Publishing, Inc.  George Pittman Sr. has been selected to serve as the grand marshal of the 2025 Watermelon Festival Parade. This honor is presented to a resident of Jefferson County who has made a positive difference through leadership, community involvement, volunteerism and overall public service to our county. Pittman meets these criteria in abundance!  A Monticello native, Pittman was born on August 1, 1926, and is proud to be 98 years young and still active. He graduated in 1945 from the Jackson County Training School and is a World War II Veteran who served in the U. S. Army/Air Force Corps from 1945-1946.  His college degrees include a B.S. in Agricul
