Gerald Malone Pitts, a father to four, a husband to one and a friend to everyone, passed away, Aug. 20, 2021, in his home in Monticello, Fla. He was born on Oct. 25, 1923 in Calhoun County, Fla., to William E. Pitts and Nancy Alice (Daniels) Pitts. Gerald was a lifelong Christian and loved his Savior until the time of his death.
He was happiest around his family and friends. He enlisted in the United States Navy prior to World War II and then joined the United States Air Force serving our Nation for over 30 years. He married the love of his life, Leona Stewart, in Sept. 1951. They both enjoyed attending Church, taking care of their family and traveling.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Leona (Stewart) Pitts, and his son Charles Pitts. He was survived by his two sons: Michael Pitts, of Monticello; and Stephen Pitts, of Pulaski, Tenn.; his daughter Thea Ellis, of Monticello; four grandchildren: Leslie Pitts, Stephanie Lyons, Jackie Antes, and Krista Mediate. Gerald also loved his 13 great-grandchildren: Dawson, Kathryn, Kasey, Isabella, Leighla, Audri, Blake, Amberlyn, Kyhlie, Jayden, Helana, Norah and Max.
Gerald M. Pitts was a man to be respected for his love of God, his country and his family. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and gardener. He will be missed by family and friends.
