Main Street Monticello is hosting the third annual Scarecrow Contest! The contest is open to any business, group, organization, school or private resident and only requires a $10 fee to register.
The requirements for entry are:
• You must have your scarecrow up by no later than October 1 and removed by November 1.
• Businesses should place their scarecrows in front of their business or in the business's window, either standing securely or sitting in a chair.
• Residents should place it in their yard or on their porch.
If residents want their scarecrow to be placed downtown, they indicate it on their application, and Main Street Monticello will do their best to accommodate.
Your scarecrow must be able to withstand weather conditions, and no flammable items or electricity are allowed. Main Street Monticello asks that you keep your scarecrows in good taste, with no bloody or violent themes, and that you avoid advertising, political and religious statements.
The winners will be selected by a panel of judges.
To register for the contest, you can stop by Oh Happy Day Gifts, 315 N Jefferson St., or Two Sisters New Beginnings, 106 E Washington St., bring your $10 application fee and make your checks payable to Main Street Monticello.
