Gohlke’s 25 years of fighting fires

Kathryn Gohlke is well-known in the Jefferson County community as the co-owner of GrannyKat's Apiary Supply & Bee Learning Center, but what you may not know about her is her other longtime career—that of a firefighter, which she just retired from after 25 years of service. Gohlke was born and raised in Miami, where she lived until about 16 years ago. It was in the Miami-Dade County that she first got an introduction to her new career. “I had a friend of mine, and her husband was a firefighter. He'd come home with so many stories...Later, they had an opening, and my friend was like, ‘Hey, why don't you apply?’ so we did,” Gohlke explai
