Of all the videos available on YouTube, try zeroing in on the Restoring Your Glory broadcasts for an uplifting series that highlights good things being done by and for the people of the wider Monticello community. Pastor Eddie Yon of Restored Glory Christian Center in Monticello premiered the first episode on July 1, during which he interviewed Christina Jackson, who founded Jehova Rapha Ranch to support young people aging out of the foster care system.
“I launched the show to inform citizens of the good things that are being done through so many great people here,” says Yon. “When there are great resources right around the corner from you, and you don't know, to me, that is an atrocity.”
The series, an outreach of Yon's church, now includes 13 videos, with guests who talk about a wide range of community-minded efforts. Viewers have learned about LaKay's Helping Hands, the Wham Bam School Jam, Refuge House, services provided by the Property Appraiser's Office, activities of the Jefferson County Ministerial Association, the Young Boyz to Men mentoring program, 4-H, the Refill Your Backpack program, and the vision that the Somerset Tigers head coach has for the players. Some episodes are time-sensitive because they focus on a specific event, while others are more timeless because they feature ongoing programs.
Yon selects interviewees based on the good they are doing in the community. “We are always looking for interviewees through various sources,” says Yon.
Episodes, which last around 15 minutes each, are filmed at the Restored Glory Christian Center.
“The show morphed from our Sunday services that are streamed live via YouTube,” explains Yon. “Everything it takes to stream was already in place, and we use it to do the show. However, for the show we pre-record and then upload it after inserting the intro and outro.”
New episodes of Restoring Your Glory typically are available weekly on Thursdays.
“Right now, we are looking for new interviewees. We’d love to have a new episode every Thursday, but we do get cancellations. Therefore, the best way to not miss a new show is to subscribe. That way, you will be notified when a new show is scheduled.”
There are a couple of ways to navigate to the Restoring Your Glory shows. You can use the “Broadcasts” link from the church website, RestoredGlory.org, or go to youtube.com and search using the keywords “restoring your glory.”
Yon says, “The show has been such a huge blessing to me because it has allowed me to reconnect with several people I already know and connect to people I had never met. Also, helping citizens know more about the services that are here and helping them get those services is truly a joy.”
