Governor signs slew of bills into law

On April 10, the governor signed five bills related to public safety, saying that they aimed at “getting rid of groomers.” Among the bills were: • House Bill 1131, which creates a new grant program to help law-enforcement officers nab online predators with sting operations. • House Bill 1235, which sets stricter guidelines for individuals on the sex offender registry. • House Bill 1224, which provides new domestic violence training for law enforcement officer and also bolsters the state’s Guardian Ad Litem Office.
