[Greg and Anne Parker, a missionary couple who are partly sponsored by the Jefferson County community and A Doctors Heart organization, are directors of infrastructure for SEARA, which oversees construction of homes for missionaries and churches in the villages along the Amazon River, along with maintenance on the riverboats and base operations. The couple also operates Parker Ministry, an outreach service that seeks to disciple to as many of the 30,000 river communities along the Amazon River in Brazil.]
With a bit of easement from the governmental COVID-19 shutdown, Greg and Anne Parker and several others associated with the Parker Ministry, were finally able to make a trip to visit area missionaries in the area villages, and at the same time finish up a few construction projects.
In July, the Parker's made a 12 day trip to build a church, finish another church and remodel a missionary home.
On the Parker Ministry site the group has been hard at work adding the finishing touches to the retreat center. “We were very excited to be able to hold our first retreat here on the property recently,” adds Greg Parker. “It was so good and encouraging to be able to visit with all the missionaries and spend quality time with each of them. A lot of them had the coronavirus, but thankfully no one had to go to the hospital.”
He shares that a big reason for the lack of hospital visits was because of the medical kits left for the missionaries during their recent trip. Food baskets were also delivered along with the medical supplies.
“Thank you to all who helped and prayed for the missions trips,” he says.
“Please continue to pray for our missionaries, as they are only now being allowed to start visiting the villages and being able to hold church services. It's been very hard to decide when and how exactly we should start the ministry up again. We see God opening up many doors and new opportunities for our missionaries because of the coronavirus pandemic. A lot of people who were very closed to the gospel have opened their homes and hearts to hear about what God has to say. I know this whole thing has not been easy on anyone and we pray for all of you back home in the states, and especially Jefferson County, that the Lord has been protecting and providing for each one of you.
“We are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us in the remainder of this year. Looking at all that has happen in the past months leads us to believe that the second coming is very close! Which means we need to share with the world now more than ever how Christ came and shed his blood that we may be saved. May God continue to give all of us the strength and courage to share the gospel. Thank you all for your prayers and support.”
