Griffin elected Monticello City Clerk

In the 2023 City General Election held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, James Griffin edged out Vivian “Judy” Hall Royster for the City Clerk seat. The six precincts within the City of Monticello contain 1,701 registered voters, and 395 of them cast ballots in this election, a low voter turnout of just 23.22 percent.
With all precincts reporting, and all ballots completely reported for early voting (92 ballots), voting by mail (102 ballots) and Election Day voting (201 ballots), Griffin had 205 votes (51.90 percent) and Royster had 190 votes (48.10 percent).
