“Guys and Dolls,” the Tony Award winning musical that has been enthralling audiences since it first opened on Broadway in 1950, now is working its magic on the historic upstairs stage of the Monticello Opera House. Just three more shows remain in the successful local production by MadCo: 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31, and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Feb. 1. For tickets, visit www.monticellooperahouse.org or call 850-997-4242.

Set in New York City in 1948, this lighthearted and entertaining musical centers on the lives of two gamblers, Sky Masterson (Ken Lambert) and Nathan Detroit (Colton Stacy), who place winning bets on love. Sky falls for Sarah Brown (Rebekah Aman Griffin), a “sergeant” in charge of a struggling urban mission; and Nathan finally agrees to tie the knot with his fiancé of 14 years, the dancer Miss Adelaide (Desiree Young).
The iconic songs, including “If I Were a Bell” and “Luck Be a Lady,” are delivered by a live orchestra and talented singer-actors in a large cast of local favorites and other performers often seen on the MOH stage. Melanie Mays does it again, directing all aspects of the show, with Stage Manager Carol Mumford and Lighting/Technical Advisor Todd Randall also leading the production team.
You'll be sure to smile, laugh and hum along as the gambling world and the mission intersect in surprising ways, to their mutual benefit.
