
Handley Benefit Barrel Race draws generous crowd

“The community really showed out,” said Monica Roberts after all was said and done at the Handley Benefit Barrel Race on Saturday, May 10.
Despite stormy weather in surrounding towns, the sun was shining brightly at Roberts Arena on Waukeenah Highway, where 50 barrel race participants drew out more than 100 others from the community to support Hunter Handley and his family through his cancer treatment.
Roberts had worked with Bailee Fye to organize the event, which had the backing of a large group of sponsors and donors. People in attendance contributed by entering the race, buying raffle tickets, purchasing concessions, bidding on sil
