Hassie Elizabeth Porter, 93, passed away on May 2, 2022, in Monticello, Fla. She was born on December 4, 1928, in Fayette, Ala., the daughter of Isaac Fletcher and Lillie (Hollingsworth) Chambless.
Hassie moved from Fayette to Monticello in 1952 and was a member of Monticello Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with family, sewing and crocheting, putting together puzzles, fishing and caring for her dog, Ruby.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Travis Porter; daughter, Patricia Porter; and son-in-law, Will Rogers. Survivors include sons, James Porter (Eva), of Wilton, Calif., and Donald Edward Porter (Sheila) of Pensacola, Fla.; daughter, Linda Rogers, of Fairmount, Ga.; sister, Ruby Fulmer; grandchildren, Zack Thomas, Beth Salyers, Mike Porter, Justin Porter, Donald Porter Jr., Phoebe Froberg, and Travis Rogers; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved, each and every one.
There will be a viewing at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, in the chapel at Beggs Funeral Home, located at 485 E. Dogwood St. in Monticello, Fla. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Oakfield Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
