SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) is presenting a spine-chilling “Not a Lab Rat” Haunted Laboratory experience on Friday evening, Oct. 16. The event takes place after hours at the Jefferson County R.J. Bailar Public Library, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
“Children generally do not understand all the chemicals that are in products marketed to them by tobacco companies,” says Crystal Pruitt of the Florida Dept. of Health – Jefferson.
She explains that during SWAT's Haunted Laboratory event, different rooms in the library will be set up to show different effects of chemicals in tobacco products, such as formaldehyde, diacetyl, benzene and nicotine.
SWAT is made possible with the support of the Florida Department of Health's Tobacco Free Florida program. SWAT is Florida’s statewide youth organization working to mobilize, educate and equip Florida youth to revolt against and de-glamorize the tobacco industry. Youth who are members of SWAT aim to empower their peers to work towards a tobacco-free future.
