Working in the healthcare system is not for the faint of heart. It takes a strong, intelligent and compassionate person to take on the ills of the world with passion and purpose. They work long, hard hours serving their community as doctors and nurses, veterinarians and dentists. These men and women work diligently to maintain the health and wellbeing of their community. From broken bones to the common cold, their hard work helps us and our families feel our best when our health is at its worst, as they administer treatment and care with a smile, and reassure us that everything will be okay. They are our Healthcare Heroes.
This week, we here at Monticello News would like to thank Healthcare Hero Jenny McNeill. McNeill currently works as a Registered Nurse (RN) at Little Pines Pediatrics in Monticello. She has been working in the health care field for eight years total, having spent seven of those years at Archbold Memorial Hospital and a year as an Acute Dialysis Nurse.
Nursing is something McNeill always had an affinity for. She remembers being five years old helping her mom take care of her siblings when they had chicken pox. From that early start in the caregiving role, she knew she wanted to be a nurse. “I just felt right taking care of other people.” McNeill stated.
McNeill finds much enjoyment in the small town aspect of her career. When asked what her favorite part of her job is, McNeill replied, “Taking care of kids in the same community where we live and where my girls are growing up. Brittany Bishop is great to work with as well – we make a good team!”
She and her husband, Tyler, have been married for nearly 15 years and have three beautiful daughters together; Morgan (13), Mae (12) and Molly (10). The family also has four beloved dogs; Nemo, Fawn, Remy and Barley. Together, the family enjoys camping, going to the movies, cooking and just hanging out. Jenny enjoys going to her daughter's school events and is involved with their school. Although the healthcare world can be demanding and high-stress, McNeill doesn't struggle to find that perfect balance between the stresses of her job and the responsibilities of her home life. “I truly love my job and the patients that I take care of,” Jenny states. “When you love what you do, it's easy to keep a good balance between family and work.”
