The Handley family of Monticello is seeking community support, following a cancer diagnosis for Hunter Handley, son of Randall and Mary Pate Handley.
On Jan. 8, 2025, the day before his second child, Ridge, was born, Hunter was diagnosed with stage 3 embryonal carcinoma, an aggressive type of testicular cancer. Since the original diagnosis, the cancer has spread to the left lung.
Hunter's wife, Taylor, told ECB Publishing, Inc. that Hunter is scheduled to have a chemotherapy port placed on March 17, with treatment to start on March 18. While Hunter is undergoing chemotherapy, he will miss at least three months of work from his job at Alpha Foundations. Taylor is a stay-at-home mom who cares for Ridge and his three-year-old sister, River. She is hopeful that the countdown that starts on March 18 will find Hunter cancer-free by summer.
To help the family financially handle the strain of Hunter's lost income coupled with significant medical bills in the months ahead, a Go Fund Me account has been started by Taylor's sister, Ashley McDonald. As of press time on Thursday morning, 103 donations had been given totalling $11,100 - just over the halfway mark to the fund goal of $20K.
To participate in this fundraiser, go to gofundme.com and search for “Support Hunter's Fight Against Cancer.”
In addition to financial support, Taylor asks the community to hold her family in their prayers during this difficult chapter in their lives.
