
High speed chase ends in crash

The Madison County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) has reported that at around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, while a deputy was monitoring traffic on I-10 in Madison County, a speeding westbound vehicle was signaled to stop but failed to do so. MCSO Capt. Jarrod Lauth said that the vehicle was pursued for 10-15 miles, and when it was apparent the vehicle would cross the county line, backup was requested from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) and the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). According to Lauth, the driver tried to navigate around a semi-truck and crashed into a light pole and then some trees near the rest stop located near mile marker 238 in Je
