There are a lot of reasons a parent or guardian may consider homeschooling their children. Some may wish to avoid a negative school environment in their area, while others may wish to continue a child's education during a family relocation or move. Some guardians may wish to work one on one with their child to support their specific learning needs, while others may be drawn to the ability to build their own curriculum and explore deeper into subjects of interest. There are dozens of reasons why homeschooling your children might be the best fit for you and your family, but getting involved in your student's education can often be a daunting task, leaving many well-intentioned parents unsure of where to begin.
If you are considering enrolling your student in at-home learning, but are unsure of where to begin, the Jefferson County Homeschool Association, Inc. is here to help. On June 4, they will be holding their 2022 Homeschool Seminar, where they will have speakers present to talk about every aspect of homeschooling, including how to get started, information on socialization, homeschooling tips for special needs students, homeschooling through high school, graduation and opportunities in the community for both homeschool-specific students as well as for everyone else. Come out and learn all you ever wanted to know about homeschooling. During the seminar, they will be holding a curriculum swap/sale, and will also have a tour of the homeschool association's resource center, where interested families can see everything the association will be offering in the school year to come.
This seminar is free to attend, and is open to the public. It will be held in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church of Monticello, located at 325 W. Washington St. on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Those wishing to enjoy a lunch must register and pay for it in advance. Those wishing to sell curriculum at the seminar must also register and pay in advanced. Registration deadline is May 30. Please register each person individually.
