House fire on Halloween consumes local home

On Halloween night, around approximately 8:30 p.m., Jefferson County Fire Rescue (JCFR) responded to an emergency call regarding a house fire in the Jefferson Heights neighborhood located off of North Highway 19. According to the fire report, Monticello Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) and Lloyd VFD also assisted at the scene. The family was home at the time of the incident and were able to escape to safety without injury.
