Hurricane recovery efforts continue

Hurricane Debby, which slammed into the Big Bend coast on Monday morning and was meandering toward South Carolina on Wednesday, was leaving behind rising inland waterways as it dumped upwards of 30 inches of rain in some places.
Downgraded to a tropical storm after hitting Florida as a category 1 hurricane, Debby was expected to intensify again before making a second landfall in the Charleston area sometime on Wednesday or Thursday.
Meanwhile, recovery efforts were underway in Jefferson County and central north Florida, even as Governor Ron DeSantis warned that the storm’s threat to the state was far from over.
