I am writing in response to Steven Rissman’s article and to Jay Adam’s article. Obviously, these 2 points of view were written by two people of opposing political parties. Their viewpoints, valid or invalid as they may be, speak to a subject I know little about, the state of affairs in running the huge business of the United States of America Government.
Now, being of a non-business-type mindset, and if I were facing an election between the two men of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, the common-sense side of myself would put away such petty thoughts that cloud my vision and I would vote for the man who has proven to be a good businessman, who displays strong leadership qualities, and who appears dedicated to the well-being and security of the American people and their way of life.
In my simple point of view, I can’t help but wonder, “If we of America are so terrible, why does everyone dream of coming here?”, and, “If we of America have been so wrong, why do so many respect and yet envy all that America is?”
I know little to nothing about the business mind sets of Joe Biden or Donald Trump and their ability, or not, of running the business of our country. I do know, however, a great deal about the fabric and backbone of what makes a country thrive. That fabric and backbone is faith, freedom, family, principled behavior and good character.
There is an obvious and steady drip, drip, drip to undermine and redefine what “character” truly is. Through this process, chaos is rampant, anxiety and confusion run wild, stability is lost, and the discipline that we all crave to live our life, to raise our children, to reach our goals, to be successful, and to strive for “character” is no more.
This is the view that I take when I look at our leaders and politicians. I want to know who will be the best example of character to inspire the fabric and backbone of our nation and our world, and hopefully they will be a great business-minded person as well.
Sincerely,
Becky W. McNeill
