Idea of joint communications center raises police chief’s ire

A proposal for creation of a joint communications center to dispatch calls to the emergency response services of both the city and county ran into immediate pushback at the city council retreat on May 10.
Councilwoman Katrina Richardson raised the issue, arguing that a joint center would lead to greater efficiency and more timely response times.
