Interim clerk appointees reflect on past and future of office

Outgoing Interim Clerk of Court J. C. O’Steen and newly appointed Interim Clerk of Court Jason Welty spoke recently to the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners about the previously disordered condition of the office and the steps in progress to make it a premier operation, respectively.
O’Steen, appointed in September almost immediately after the governor’s suspension of former Clerk of Court Kirk Reams for alleged financial misdeeds, compared the office to a trainwreck when he first arrived to take it over.
