Jennings Missionary Baptist Church has been blessed to receive Jacob Pitts as their interim pastor. Pitts, a Madison and Lovett native, and Aucilla Christian Academy alum, has been in the ministry business since his college days. Pitts received his degree from North Florida Community College in 2016, after which he graduated from Saint Leo University with a degree in theology. When getting into ministry, he first started as a helper for his local small group, and soon became a youth leader, where Pitts said “it snowballed from there.” He preached and taught at Melody Christian Church in Live Oak, Fla., before ending his time there at the end of this past school year to pursue ministry full time.
Now, the Baptist Association has sent him to Jennings to speak the word of God into the hearts of those in that area. “There are a lot of good people,” Pitts stated, “The big goal is to help the members of the church in their spiritual growth, rather than the numerical growth of the church itself.” He is excited for this next chapter in his life, and to have an impact at Jennings Missionary Baptist Church. Pitts has his family by his side in this adventure with his wife, Paige, and their two daughters, Claire and Annie. More than 53,000 are serving as volunteer missionaries worldwide for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Missionaries receive their assignment from Church headquarters and fund their own missions. Missionaries avoid entertainment, parties or other activities common to this age-group as long as they are on their missions, so they can focus entirely on the work of serving and of teaching others the gospel of Jesus Christ.
