It’s a crime to steal campaign signs

With the election season beginning and more candidates entering political races, folks are reminded that it is against the law to steal, vandalize or otherwise deface campaign signs. The signs are considered personal property and stealing them is against Section 812.014 of the Florida Statutes which criminalizes theft.
Those seeking political office are reminded they should obtain permission from property owners before placing signs on private property. In addition, political campaign signs may not be placed on any state, county or city rights of way. Signs placed on a state, county or city right of way may be picked up by appropriate staff and disposed
