Memorial services for Jackie Howard Calhoun, 65, of Monticello, will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021 at the Allen and Allen Celebration of Life Chapel.
Mr. Calhoun passed away on Aug. 14, 2021. Born August 11, 1956 in Monticello, Fla., he was the son to the late Huey Calhoun and Virginia Sumner.
Mr. Calhoun received his high school diploma at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii where he served part of his five years in the army.
Jackie had an immense love for his family as well as his dogs, Lucy and Coojoe. In his spare time, Mr. Calhoun loved to be outside, whether that meant riding through the woods, driving a big truck, or being out on the water, fishing and boat riding. He loved to play horseshoes as well. There was always a competition when it came to the outdoor grill, Jackie was the best.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Calhoun; sons: William Calhoun (Tammy), of Panama City, Fla., J.D. Shiver (Becca), of Monticello, Fla., and Jeremy Shiver, of Monticello, Fla.; daughter, Brandy Calhoun of Charleston, SC.; siblings: Joyce Brumbley (Jarrell), of Auburn Ala., Cleveland Calhoun (Becky) of Boston, Ga., Patricia Harmon (Jerry), of Wedowee, Ala, and Tammy Calhoun of Meigs, Ga.; grandchildren: Kalli, Evan, Ryan, William, Mary Hope, Cody, and Casey; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and best lifetime friend, Eddie Matthews, who was a “brother from another mother.”
Mr. Calhoun is preceded in death by his brothers: James Ellis “Coon” Calhoun and Huey Carlton “Buddy” Calhoun, Sr. Friends and family are invited to visit his online tribute page at www.allenfh.com.
