The JCS Varsity Baseball Team invites the community to “Meet the Tigers” at a scrimmage game from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18. The event will take place at a new baseball field in back of the Jefferson County Recreation Park (access via Goldberg St.). The team is debuting new uniforms, and the concession stand will be open.
Members of the community are encouraged to come out and cheer on the Tigers baseball team to wish them well in this year's upcoming season. Head Coach Patrick Figueroa and Assistant Coaches Jayden Figueroa, Nevan Figueroa and James Kiester look forward to an exciting season with the players. Team members include seventh grader Marcos Vargas; eighth graders Noah Crawford and Zariyis Johnson; ninth graders Levi Carroll, Tyler Crawford, Jaylon Crumity, Tre Scott and Terrance Wilson; tenth graders Charles Boyd, Gabriel Parker and Noah Parker; and twelfth graders Marlon Barrington, Haven Francis, Kamarrion King, Vishaul Linton, Rico Murray and Aquanye Thompson.
Johnston's Meat Market is sponsoring Saturday's “Meet the Tigers” event and providing the team with lunch afterwards. After Saturday's preseason inter-squad game, the team is scheduled to begin the regular season with three home games, Feb. 28 v. FAMU, March 2 v. Aucilla and March 3 v. Monroe. All games start at 6 p.m. For the full schedule through April, see page 8 in this issue of the Monticello News.
