JCS celebrates Literacy Week

During the week of Jan. 22-26, students across the State of Florida participated in Celebrate Literacy Week. The purpose of the annual event is to raise awareness about the importance of reading and to inspire Florida's students and families to make reading part of their daily routines.
Jefferson County K-12 School (JCS) celebrated with daily trivia questions and weekly activities such as Tiger on the Shelf. Each elementary teacher was given a toy tiger to move around the room (like Elf on the Shelf at Christmas) to encourage the practice of reading for fun.
