JCSO makes after-hours drug bust

On Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling the City of Monticello when they observed suspicious activity in a public business parking lot during closed business hours. Detectives made contact with the driver who was identified as 23-year-old, Justin Crumity. While speaking with Crumity, the detectives reportedly smelled the
odor of marijuana emitting from his person and vehicle. Crumity was detained and the detectives began a probable cause search of Justin’s vehicle. The search revealed approximately a half-pound (232 grams) of marijuana, a digital scale, a Glock handgun, and U.S. currency consistent with the sale
