At a ceremony held on Tuesday, April 25, Corporal Joe Garrison was presented with the Correctional Officer of the Year Award by Kent Watson of VFW Post 251. Jefferson County Sheriff Mac McNeill is exceptionally grateful to the outstanding men in the local branch of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for their recognition of the public servants who diligently serve and protect our families, friends and neighbors.
Sheriff McNeill agreed that Officer Garrison was much deserving of the honor because of his hard work and unwavering dedication to the citizens of Jefferson County. In the unpredictable and volatile society we are all a part of, it is somewhat calming to know that there are still those who are willing to lay their lives on the line to not only save but enhance others. It is certainly not an easy job but one that has to be done.
Thank you Officer Garrison for doing it so well and VFW Post 251 for appreciating and rewarding his efforts.
