
Jefferson Arts Gallery’s lease at risk

Representatives of Jefferson Arts Gallery (JAG) will get an opportunity to argue their case before the Jefferson County Commission before the latter decides on what to do about the group’s lease of the building on 575 West Washington St. that has long served as the organization’s home.
Founded in 1998 by a group of local artists, JAG has ever since inhabited the building, which it originally leased from the school board and that it largely renovated with members' money and sweat equity.
In recent years, however, the county has taken possession of the building and commissioners now believe that the building can be put to a better use by serving the
