On April 23, county-level 4-H event winners and their parents traveled to the Wakulla County Extension Office in Crawfordville, Fla., to participate in the 4-H District III Showcase. Nine youth from Jefferson County competed in the event, with results as follows:
General Public Speaking
Junior Division, 8-10 years old
• Reign Carillo, "Filipino Born, American Raised," 1st place blue rosette and blue quality strip ribbon
Intermediate Division, 11-13 years old
• Maggie Walker, "North Florida Citrus," 1st place blue rosette and red quality strip ribbon
Demonstration/Illustrated Talks
Junior Division, 8-10 years old
• Zamiya Kennedy – Food Preparation/Healthy Lifestyle – “Dive in with Ocean Water,” 2nd place red rosette and red quality strip ribbon
• Javarion Ulee – Food Preparation/Healthy Lifestyles – “America’s Milkshake,” 1st place blue rosette and blue quality strip ribbon
• Isabelle Scott – Animals/Husbandry – "I'm Cuckoo for Dodo Birds,” 1st place blue rosette and red quality strip ribbon
• Gabrielle White – Plants/Gardening – "How to Plant Tulips in a Pot," 1st place blue rosette and blue quality strip ribbon
• Sulyria Bellamy – Expressive Arts/Leisure & Performing Arts – "How to make Strawberry Slime," 1st place blue rosette and blue quality strip ribbon
Senior Division, 14-18 years old
• Johnathon Youngblood – Healthy Living/Food Nutrition – "Eat Healthy, Live Better," 1st place blue rosette and blue quality strip ribbon
• Shaqaysia Mosley – Science & Technology/Computers – "Internet Safety for Teens," 1st place blue rosette and blue quality strip ribbon
Johnathon Youngblood and Shaqaysia Mosley will compete at 4-H University, a week-long overnight event for senior 4-H youth (4-H age 14-18) held at the University of Florida, on July 25.
