The Jefferson County Extension 4-H Office here in Monticello held a photography contest for local children to participate in to be judged by locals and have the opportunity to be entered into the North Florida Fair contest.
Four locals entered the contest to see who had the best pictures. There were three age categories, Junior (ages eight to 10), Intermediate (ages 11-13) and Senior (ages 14-17). Kegan Morrisette was the only participant in the Junior category entering three photos. Morrissette won first place for his age category. Marley Jane Gove was the only contestant for the Intermediate category entering in three pictures as well. Gove’s barn picture won fourth overall in the contest. Isabella Gray and Emma Tharpe entered the Senior division and made judging very difficult. Gray’s goat pictures won first and third in her division and overall. Tharpe’s black and white photos were outstanding, and the beach picture placed second overall and Tharpe was titled second in her division.
Each participant can have their photos submitted to the North Florida Fair to be judged on Nov. 3 for the chance to be win the contest overall.
