The Jefferson County Office of the County Manager is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs that will expand services and support available to local veterans and their families.
Beginning Thursday, May 28, in addition to the county’s current Veterans Services hours of operation, Jefferson County will add an additional day of service each week through the support of a State Veterans Service Officer. Services will be available every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Office located at 375 S. Water St.
Through this partnership, veterans and their families will have increased local access to assistance with veterans’ benefits, claims processing, healthcare enrollment information, survivor benefits and other support services available through state and federal veteran’s programs.
“The Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners remains committed to ensuring that veterans and their families receive the support, resources and assistance they deserve following their service and sacrifice in defense of our nation,” said Interim County Manager Ron Russo. “County leadership views this partnership as another important step in strengthening services for the veteran community and improving access to critical resources throughout Jefferson County.”
County officials expressed appreciation to the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs for its collaboration and continued commitment to serving Florida’s veterans.
“This partnership enhances our ability to better serve the men and women who have served our country,” said Ben White, chairman of the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners. “It is an honor to join forces with our state partners to help ensure our veterans receive the highest level of care, support, and access to the benefits they have earned. It is the very least we can do for those who have served and sacrificed for all of us.”
