Jefferson Somerset teachers, staff and students showed their love and appreciation for their bus drivers in October to celebrate both National School Bus Safety Week and Florida School Bus Driver Appreciation Week.
Melissa Wandall, Campaign Ambassador for Alert Today Florida, had these words of praise for bus drivers: “Every school year, you safely drive millions of miles and provide an irreplaceable service to Florida’s families and youth. By choosing to be a school bus driver, you’ve made a unique career choice, one that requires an abundance of patience, concentration, and care.... Your hard work and professionalism do not go unnoticed, and your commitment to roadway safety is paramount! You drive more than just school buses; you drive the success of our Florida students and families! Thank you for the important and incredible job you do every day!”
To recognize their bus drivers, students in each grade level in preschool through twelfth grade at Jefferson Somerset adopted a bus driver and surprised them with cards, banners and a goody basket filled with their favorite things.
“The Jefferson Somerset staff, students and parents would like to thank Transportation Director Nicky Seaton, Bus Drivers Willie Carr, Annette Benjamin, Willie Hawkins, Christine Ford, Letoshian Bivens, Teresa Martinez, Gary Scott, Wendy Reeves, Lucius Wade, Lashara Macon, David Crumitie and Mae Howard, as well as Bus Aides Emmerald Graham, Kenneth Robinson, Maria Beverly and Lashonda Graham for their commitment to the safety and care of our students,” said Activities Director Nancy Whitty. “We appreciate and love you!”
Jefferson Somerset Transportation Director Nicky Seaton thanks her staff for the hard work that they always put in every single day with a smile. “Your diligence and detailed approach towards work has set a benchmark for the rest of the workforce,” she said, “and for that I am humbly grateful.”
