The Jefferson Somerset Middle School basketball season has begun. On Thursday, Oct. 28, the Tigers traveled to Madison for a game with the Broncos of Madison County Central School. The Tigers were defeated in the contest with a final score of 41-9.
The first quarter began with both teams moving the ball up and down the court, but baskets proved to be elusive in the early moments of the game. The Tigers were able to get on the scoreboard with a three-point shot and a pair of free throws. The score at the end of the first quarter was 10-5, in favor of the Broncos. The Tigers only managed one point from the foul line during the second period and the score was 22-6 as halftime rolled around. During the third quarter, the Tigers were held scoreless and the score was 33-6 going into the final period. The Tigers were able add three more points to raise their total to nine before time expired with a 41-9 final score.
The Tigers will face the Broncos again later in the season on Tuesday, Dec. 7, when the Tigers host the Broncos. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
