When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the “stay-at-home” executive order that limited people to only essential errands outside their home in order to help stop the spread of the coronavirus, there was one group of individuals that understood “essential” to mean giving selflessly of their time and efforts and ensuring that the children of Jefferson County had enough to eat during this health crisis.
Throughout this pandemic, Jefferson Somerset’s cafeteria staff and transportation department have never retreated to the safety of their own homes; instead, they continue to provide 650 breakfasts and lunches to the county's students every day, Monday through Friday.
Principal Cory Oliver and the rest of the staff at Jefferson Somerset would like to salute the following unsung heroes: Mary Singleton, Jackie Johnson, Annette Holland, Holly Woodard, Yesenia Rosas, Ronald James, Raichelle Burt, Nicky Seaton, Alfreddie Hightower, Gary Scott, Mae Howard, Willie Carr, Ken Robinson, Lashara Macon, Willie Hawkins, Annette Benjamin, Debbie Cordle, Christine Ford, Elizabeth Jones, David Crumitie, Teresa Martinez, Lucus Wade, LaShonda Graham, Porsha Thompson,Wendy Reeves and Reginald Gallon.
“We thank you, we appreciate you and we love you!”
