Jefferson students dig deeper into historical archaeology with Aucilla Research Institute

The Aucilla Research Institute, in partnership with the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) and the Jefferson County School District, has provided a unique and exciting opportunity for Jefferson County and other students to participate in scientific research. On Friday, Dec. 13, students from Jefferson County K-12, A Community Partnership School (JCS), came to ARI’s headquarters at 555 N. Jefferson St. in Monticello to work with Dr. Willet Boyer, an ARI Associate Scholar as well as Jefferson County’s Secondary Teacher of the Year, and ARI board members Dr. Andy Hemmings and Tom Harmon on learning to do artifact analysis with an X-Ray Fluoresc
