Jerry Wayne Sutphin, 78, passed away on June 16, 2022, in Tallahassee, Fla. He was born on May 24, 1944, in Charleston, W. Va. to the late Woodrow Irving and Lula Mae (Brown) Sutphin. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Jerry moved from Titusville, Fla. to Monticello in August of 1998 after retiring from the Brevard County Sheriff Office. He was a Southern Baptist and always willing to help others in need. Jerry was a charter member of Gateway Masonic Lodge #384 F & AM in Mims, Fla., a former Jefferson County Commissioner, and he enjoyed politics. Jerry loved riding motorcycles, he also loved street rods, and working on cars. He built racecars and a Lil Pete, both of which he looked upon with pride and joy. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Sutphin; daughters; Julie Sutphin and Rebecca Musolff (Todd); brother, Irving Sutphin (Dolores); grandchildren; Charissa Calhoun, Logan Burnett, Spencer Burnett, and Samuel Musolff; and great-grandchild, Kali Busch. A visitation was held at North Brevard Funeral Home, in Titusville, Fla., on Thursday, June 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The funeral service was also held there at 11:30 a.m. Interment followed at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 1 p.m. with US Air Force honors. An upcoming memorial service will be held at Beggs Funeral Home in Monticello, Fla., on Wednesday, June 29, at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Jerry’s honor to the Masonic Home in Tampa, 3201 1st St N E, St. Petersburg, Fla. 33704.
