Greg Laurie is a well-known author and pastor in the United States. While he was not born or raised in the faith, he came to know Christ as a teenager during the explosion of the “Jesus Movement” in South Carolina. His story is inspiring, and since he has accepted Christ he has spent his life helping others to do the same.
Jesus Revolution was released on Friday, Feb. 24, in the United States. The film is based on the book of the same name written by Laurie. It follows youth minister Laurie (Joel Courtney) and his pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammar) and their part in the “Jesus Movement” during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The synopsis of the film reads, “In the 1970s, young Greg Laurie is searching for all the right things in all the wrong places: until he meets Lonnie Frisbee, a charismatic hippie-street-preacher. Together with Pastor Chuck Smith they open the doors of Smith’s languishing church to an unexpected revival of radical and newfound love, leading to what TIME Magazine dubbed a Jesus Revolution.”
The film is available at multiple theaters around the area, including: Regal UA Cinema 90 in Lake City and Valdosta Stadium Cinemas in Valdosta, Ga. The film is the second film from the creators of I Can Only Imagine and continues their trend of faith-based films.
