JoAnn Odom, 80, of Lloyd, Fla., went to be with our Lord on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. JoAnn was born September 14, 1939 in Miami, Fla. to Edward Key and Ernie Lee Sloan.
In addition to being a loving mother, she was also a loving and devoted grandmother who was referred to fondly by her grandchildren as “Nana”. JoAnn was a talented seamstress and she loved to fish, but her greatest pastime was being present for her grandchildren at their various events. Her laugh was contagious, and her smile could light up a room.
JoAnn held an unwavering faith in God and was a longstanding member of the First Baptist Church of Lloyd where she attended regularly.
JoAnn joins her parents, Edward and Ernie Sloan; her brother, Robert Sloan; and son, Ricky Smith in heaven. She is survived by her son, Ronnie J. Smith (Richard Stephens); three daughters: Donna Wilford (David, their children: Heath and Shane, and great-grandchildren Savanna, Austin and Lainey); Sheila Hernandez (Pascual); Alicia Brown (Harry); granddaughter Helen Morrill; and the lights of her life and her source of pure joy on earth: Jordan Alexander, Alejandro ”Alex” Hernandez, Harry “Trey” Brown III and Arianna “Ari” Brown. JoAnn also leaves behind a niece, Rhonda McCoy (William); a nephew, Rob Sloan; three great-nieces; a great-nephew; a host of cousins and a lifetime of loving friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, from 6-8 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home in Monticello, Fla. A funeral service will follow on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Lloyd, with Pastor Jered Day officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Springfield Cemetery.
