With the passing of Justice Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court, a conversation is taking place about her replacement. Mr. Biden has said he would replace her with a black female. Let’s contrast his line of thinking with that of Dr. King, who said he had a dream that one day people would be judged not by the color of their skin but instead by the content of their character. In this case, we’ll substitute “qualifications” for “content of character”. In my life experience those of good character often performed their jobs well and were worthy of promotion, so there is a relationship between the two.
What Mr. Biden is planning is what is known as “affirmative action” or more properly reverse-discrimination. The idea is that since group “X” was discriminated against by group “Y” sometime in the past (which for most of us is a time when none of us were either alive or an adult), we must give group “X” preference over group “Y”, and of course also over group “W” and group “Z”, who never had anything to do with discrimination in the past.
Many of use learned as children that two wrongs never make a right. Another flaw with Mr. Biden’s thinking here is that he could very well overlook a better-qualified candidate, perhaps one that is a Hispanic female or a male of Asian ethnicity.
As he has done in the past. Mr. Biden is proposing governance by pandering. Those in power should rely upon facts and not emotion when governing. In my opinion, Mr. Biden and his record, to include recent statements on things such as new gun laws, indicates he is unable to do so.
