As Thanksgiving comes ever-closer, word continues to spread about seasonal toy drive boxes, better known as JOY Boxes, popping up all around town. Over the years, the Jefferson Outreach for Youth (JOY) program has gathered and donated thousands of gifts to children, making their Christmas mornings extra special. With this year's donation drive officially underway, JOY workers are expecting to serve more than 100 families this season, bringing various toys and gifts to boys and girls ages 12 and under that are from low-income or impoverished homes.
As the season of giving takes hold of the hearts of many in Monticello, it may also leave some community members wondering where they can bring their donations for drop off. There are colorful gift boxes in various places around town where residents can drop off an unwrapped gift or gifts. Monetary donations are also needed, and can be mailed to JOY at P.O. Box 25, Monticello, Fla., 32345. Here is a list of all the locations where JOY Boxes can be found:
