Judge denies Reams’ motion for new trial

In separate brief orders issued on Thursday morning, Sept. 19, Circuit Court Judge Stephen Everett denied Kirk Reams’ motion for a new trial, as well as a second subsequent motion asking the court to allow oral arguments on the first motion.
Reams, formerly clerk of court for Jeffersn County, was convicted of grand theft by a jury on Aug. 27. He filed a motion for a new trial on Sept 4, and a second motion asking to be allowed to argue the merits of the first motion on Sept. 11.
